Inspiring Your Authentic Week

Inspiring Your Authentic Week

Live the dream

Posted: 10 Sep 2007 01:09 AM CDT

For five years I have been sending out these exhortations to authenticity.  At first monthly and more recently weekly.  The emphasis has shifted, as I have learned and grown and developed, from a business focus (my back ground) to a personal focus.  This reflects my belief that everything, including business success, depends on the authenticity of the individual.

For anyone to recommend and encourage others on a path of authenticity, they must themselves be pursuing their own authentic journey - right?

So what am I doing about it?  What is my authentic lifestyle that makes me credible as a guide on that authentic journey?

Firstly I should say that it was not always this way.  The greater part of my adult life was lived in utter confusion, lacking direction or purpose.  I clearly remember the experience of "white noise" in my head that would not go away, would not allow me to think clearly.

Today I continually hold myself to my authentic path, as closely as I can.  I revel in the clarity of thought and the certainty that authenticity brings.

The most important aspect of my life today is the unconditionally loving relationship my wife and I have.  It is hard to underestimate the profound empowerment that is shared by the absolute certainty that someone else is always on your side, no matter what.  That is not to say that we always agree with each other, but that we always agree with each other first, before we share conclusions or concerns with others.

The second aspect of authenticity in my life is my work.  I truly love it.  There seems to be little that could be more meaningful in my life than helping others to make the breakthrough to authenticity, whether it is with individuals or organisations.  I feel particularly blessed to have this sense of total clarity around authenticity that enables me to help others to change their lives.  For me this is an experience of pure beauty and I am able to enjoy it every day through my writing, coaching and public and corporate workshops.

The third aspect is my physical environment, the place where I live and work.  To be able to access our deepest authenticity we also have to be in a place which inspires, a place that we love, a place that feels like home.  We have enjoyed our time living near Bath, but neither my wife or I have felt the sense of oneness with our home environment and location that we are looking for.

On Saturday night my wife, our two small children and I arrived in Mallorca, to continue our authentic journey in a place that we believe has the sense of oneness that we are looking for.  It is not easy moving to a different country, especially with two young children.  It is extremely exciting and at the same time daunting.  On our way here both of us felt a sense of being significantly more committed to something whose outcome we could not be sure of than we really wanted to be.  A bit like barreling to a corner on a Pyrenean descent on your bike and really wishing you were going 15kph slower - NOW!

Today we woke up in the beautiful village that we will make our home and walked to the house that we will move into at the end of the week.  I had seen it for half an hour two months ago and my wife had not seen it at all, and yet this was the culmination of two and a half years of meticulous planning and preparing.

The house is magical, with serene views across the idyllic village of S'Arraco, where I already run the Authentic Transformation Advance and will run Authentic Transformation Works and the two Love Factory events over the coming months.

It has been a huge, once in a lifetime type of challenge, to get us here and yet, we are determined to live the dream, to be as uncompromisingly true to our core ideals as we can be.

Can we all live our dream?  Can we all have an unconditionally loving relationship - yes, of course we can.  Can we all love our work - yes, absolutely.  Can we all live in a place we feel at one with - yes, yes, yes.  All it takes is the decision to do it and the commitment to see it through.  The most important thing is to believe that compromising our lives is not an inevitability.

Where do we start?

Well a good place to start is by allowing yourself to be inspired by these e-mails and sharing them with others who might also be inspired.

A next step would be to read Seven Stages of Authenticity - a self coaching manual for an authentic journey.

A third step would be to up the inspiration a notch with an event.  Authentic Transformation Works to help you sort out your work life and to love what you do for a living.  The Love Factory to help you find the support of an unconditionally loving relationship.

Another option would be to book a chat on the phone with me to see if a few sessions of authenticity coaching could help you on your way.

Whatever you choose to do, there is no time to waste.  Every moment spent living without authenticity is a compromise.  A compromise for you and for those around you.  Help to change the world by changing your life.

With love
